David Chung

President/Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Chung has over twenty-five years of hospital-focused, global medical device and pharmaceutical leadership, most recently serving in the role as Chief Commercial Officer for AcelRx Pharmaceuticals.  Prior to AcelRx, Mr. Chung served as Chief Commercial Officer for Conceptus (Bayer), where he oversaw the strategic and day-to-day leadership for a 150-member global sales and marketing team. Prior to Conceptus, Mr. Chung served as President and CEO of Mitralis, an early-stage mitral valve repair company.  He previously held roles of Vice President North America Sales and Marketing, and Global Vice President, Commercial Operations, for the Heart Valve Therapy business at Edwards Lifesciences.  Mr. Chung began his career in the commercial organization at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.  Mr. Chung also served as a PATRIOT missile officer in the U.S. Army, with multiple distinctions, including Airborne, Desert Storm Veteran and Bronze Star Medal.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Ron M. Nelson

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Nelson has held various full-time positions in finance with several early-stage medical device startups in the last 30+ years. Mr. Nelson started his career with Touche Ross & Co., an international public accounting firm. Most recently, he was Chief Financial Officer of CHF Solutions, a medical device company prior to their acquisition. Mr. Nelson has extensive experience in finance leadership positions with several global start-up ventures. Mr. Nelson’s educational background includes CPA certification and a Bachelors degree in Business from Gustavus Adolphus College.

Alex Jonkers

Chief Commercial Officer

Mr. Jonkers is a 20 year veteran of the medical device and healthcare industry. Most recently, Jonkers was with Medtronic, Inc., leading a large commercial organization responsible for catheter-based therapies and surgical heart valves across the EMEA region. Prior to Medtronic, he was with CoreValve, Inc., serving in a clinical and sales leadership capacity and a key member of the team that directed the successful integration of CoreValve into the Medtronic organization upon acquisition. Mr. Jonkers’ educational background includes healthcare and business degrees from the Open University Netherlands.

Daryl Edmiston

Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Edmiston has over 15 years of interventional medical device leadership experience. His background includes engineering project management, state-of-the-art manufacturing process development, and medical device design with patents in embolic protection, stent delivery and occlusion devices. He has extensive experience in implementing R&D capabilities in a startup environment, managing intellectual property, and developing technical and design dossiers through clinical trials. Prior to joining NeoChord, Mr. Edmiston was Vice President of Research and Development at Coherex Medical, leading teams from concept development through CE Mark and IDE approval. Prior to Coherex Medical, Mr. Edmiston held leadership roles at Rubicon Medical, directing technical development through clinical trials, CE market clearance and company acquisition. He also held technical roles at Fairchild Semiconductor and Spectra-Physics Laserplane. Mr. Edmiston holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.

W. Randolph Chitwood, Jr., MD

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Chitwood is an internationally known cardiac surgeon, who pioneered robotic and minimally invasive mitral valve surgery. He has 35 years of experience in practicing high volume cardiac surgery, specializing in mitral valve repair. He performed the first complete robotic mitral repair in the United States and led the clinical trials eventuating in FDA approval of the daVinci Surgical System for mitral valve surgery. He has worked with various companies developing innovative technology and participating in clinical trials. These include Intuitive Surgical, Atricure, Scanlan International, Abbott and Edwards Life Sciences. He is a past President of the Society for Thoracic Surgeons, the Heart Valve Society, and the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery. Dr. Chitwood graduated from Hampden Sydney College (BS) and the University of Virginia (MD). He completed a ten-year residency program in general and cardiothoracic surgery at Duke University. Thereafter, he established the cardiac surgery program at East Carolina University, rising to Chairman of the Department of Surgery and later to become the Founder of the East Carolina Heart institute.

Annette Doxon

Vice President, Quality and Operations

Annette has over 25 years experience as a quality professional in the medical device industry.  Prior to joining NeoChord, Ms. Doxon most recently held the position of Director of Quality for Zimmer Spine, where she was responsible for managing all aspects of quality operations.  She has extensive experience in quality leadership roles developing and implementing effective quality systems and providing quality and operational expertise to support new business development.   Ms. Doxon has a B.S. in Medical Technology and a B.S. in Biology from Winona State University in Winona, MN.

Jenny Donovan

Director, Business Operations

Mrs. Donovan has 20 years of experience in the Medical Device and Pharmaceutical Industry. She began her career at Medtronic where she held various roles in the customer service and IT organizations. Jenny left Medtronic in 2010 to pursue her first start-up opportunity at CNS Therapeutics, a specialty-pharmaceutical company. In 2013, CNS was purchased by Covidien Inc. After a successful transition, Jenny continued her start-up career at InnerSpace Neuro Solutions and then at Global Kinetics Corporation before joining the NeoChord Team in 2015. Jenny specializes in operational leadership for commercial and clinical organizations. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology from Gustavus Adolphus College.
